Academic Organizations

On February 2, 2010 the charter was approved and received from the national office for the first ever National Spanish Honor Society in the high school. The official chapter name is Antonio Banderas. New membership is limited to those students who are currently enrolled in Spanish and have completed the first 3 semesters of Spanish with a 90 or above average and outstanding behavior in Spanish class.  In addition, students are required to fill out an application with other information and submit a teacher recommendation. Students who qualify for membership will be notified by postal mail and inducted in May in a bilingual, formal induction ceremony with a Mexican banquet to follow.  CHS joins a select group of chapters in the state of Texas that promote and recognize the outstanding study of Spanish in secondary schools.

The Induction Ceremony and Banquet will be held in the CHS cafeteria at 6:30 PM on Thursday, May 20.  In addition to oaths of membership, new officers will be inducted for 2010-2011 and the only senior being inducted will be presented with her honor stole to wear at graduation. All parents, family members, and teachers and staff are asked to join us for this special evening.
